We bought the interactive motion ball for our 3 cats for xmas. We have an 8 month old Tabby kitten, 5yr old Persian cat and 12 year old Maine Coon kitty. The ball has to be charged for 2.5 hours before it can be used. Once charged, we put it on our kitchen floor in front of all 3 cats and turned it on. At first the cats were surprised that a ball could move by itself without them swatting it. Then they began to chase it as it moved to our dining room and into our living room. If the ball gets into a spot it can't move forward, the ball will back up and move on from there. My husband and I think its really neat and cats seem to really enjoy it. They played nonstop with the ball the first day for 30 minutes before they were tired out. The directions say with a full charge it can go for an hour to hour and half of full time play. Despite bouncing through my kitchen and down my stairs, this bad boy has taken beating and kept on rolling! Easy to clean exterior and super fast charge were both benefits. Works the best on non-carpeted areas but still did perform on low pile carpets.

These balls have a crazy pattern or maybe no pattern. Depending on the floor surface they roll in any direction and change direction without notice, making a fun toy for our cats. On hard floors it goes very quickly from one motion to another and on carpet a bit slower. Fast to charge and the charge seems to last a good while. The red light is simply an LED and is not harmful to the cats' vision as a laser may be. The LED flashes during charging and turns solid red when fully charged.

We have a kitten that acts more like a cog (cat/dog). He talks with us - often back at us - purrs, plays, and is an overall joy. He often seeks attention too, which can be vexing when my daughter is trying to get her homework finished. He runs his tail in her face, jumps on her and her laptop keyboard, and is just a little pester puss. He loves to chase lights, so when I saw this toy, it looked like a great solution to occupy him. He was a bit timid at first (meeting a robot for the first time and all), but still actively engaged immediately. This is a great buy for our little guy when we can't stop what we're doing to play.
